Himanta Biswa Sarma-Led NDA Projected for Hat-Trick in Assam; Exit Polls Favour BJP
Multiple exit polls conducted after the April 9, 2026 Assam assembly elections projected the BJP-led NDA alliance to win between 96 and 98 seats in the 126-member assembly, giving them a comfortable majority for a third consecutive term. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma emerged as the key factor in voter preference. The opposition Congress-AIUDF combine was projected to win between 25 and 30 seats.
